Deakin Marine was set up in February 2004 by Andrew Deakin. The company is based in Limerick but all services are available nationwide.

Andrew has qualifications in Naval Architecture (from Southampton Institute of Higher Education) and Marine Surveying (from The International Institute of Marine Surveyors). He is a member of RINA (The Royal Institution of Naval Architects) and ABYC (The American Boat and Yacht Council) and is continually involved in further studies as necessary for Continual Professional Development and to keep up with the latest technology.

Deakin Marine carries full Professional Indemnity Insurance and Public Liability Insurance and is a VAT registered business.

Previous experience includes motorboat and yacht repairs and maintenance, inland waterways hire boat maintenance, marine workshop management, motorboat and yacht sales, engine parts sales, and fibreglass and steel boat construction.

Andrew has extensive experience in motorboats, particularly on the inland waterways, and is involved in the Chieftain offshore racing campaign, which to date has included a Division win in the 2005 Sydney to Hobart yacht race and an Overall win in the 2006 Round Britain and Ireland race.
